Ilkeston Folk and Blues
Club
Probably the best folk club round here. Normally have 15
performers on each night, with a huge variety of music - there's plenty of folk
and blues (whatever folk and blues is), but plenty of other styles as well, plus
a number of very good singer songwriters
The Lion, Basford
Probably the
best open mike night, hosted by the Toe
Tappers, who are a highly talented and versatile duo. Highly
recommended - not to mention the free music on Fridays and Saturdays, and the 10
real ales
The Greyhound,
Beeston
Another great open mike night, this time on a Tuesday
Nottingham Harmonic Society
An
amazing powerful choir of 150-200 voices, probably one of the best amateur
choirs in the country. We do large concerts in the Royal Centre Nottingham
in March and November, a concert in Southwell Minster in May, Handel's Messiah
in December and two carol concerts at Christmas. Come along - you will not
be disappointed
Joe's
Musical Circus
Monthly songwriter nights at Chameleon, in a former life
Raffles, in Nottingham City Centre
Becky Syson
Superb singer
songwriter, who also runs a monthly songwriter night at the Maze
Melody Market at the Loft - Good
music every Sunday night, in a friendly venue
The Victoria, Beeston
10 real
ales - always in faultless condition - wonderful food including a good veggie
selection, great live music on Sundays, live jazz on Mondays, plus the odd beer
festival or two
Quorn Hash House
Harriers
The international drinking club with a running
problem!!
Noyhag
A friendly
local group for walking, cycling and other outdoor activities and social
gatherings, plus monthly weekends away
